Key Terms for Test 4

  1. Facebook.com: a website which allows users, who sign-up for free profiles, to connect with friends, work colleagues or people they don’t know, online. It allows users to share pictures, music, videos and articles, as well as their own thoughts and opinions with how ever many people they like.
  2. Pinterest.com: a visual discovery tool that people use to collect ideas for their different projects and interests. People create and share collections (called “boards”) of visual bookmarks (called “Pins”) that they use to do things like plan trips and projects, organize events or save articles and recipes.
  3. Tumblr.com: an image blogging site.  Users post interesting photos, videos, and other media to their followers, who can then share it with their followers as well.
  4. Twitter.com: a social networking and microblogging service that allows you answer the question, “What are you doing?”by sending short text messages 140 characters in length, called “tweets”, to your friends, or “followers.”
  5. LinkedIn.com: is a business-oriented social networking service.
  6. Govloop.com: is an online social network for people in and around government.
  7. SocialNumber.com: a free app that allows you to connect with other ‘like-minded’ people anonymously.
  8. iVillage.com: a website that focuses on categories targeted at women, including entertainment, beauty & style, family, food, and health.
  9. Nike.com
  10. IBM.com: often referred to as simply “the cloud,” is the delivery of on-demand computing resources—everything from applications to data centers—over the Internet on a pay-for-use basis.
